The content of the mind is made up of 1001 beliefs. We are told: Believe in this, believe in that, and then you will know. Just the opposite is true. You will never know yourself via beliefs. You will know only what others decree.
For example, someone I look up to decrees, “Here is the truth . . . .” Because, when children, we were desperate to fit in, we learned to make rules. And that is when the trouble began. Now I can protect myself from the unknown by following the rule. The problem is that in order to keep the rule in place, I will have to imprison the decree giver–he or she must never change their viewpoint or I will become confused, and BETRAYED.
Seeing the beliefs you carry is the key to undoing anxiety.
